Make 2010 the year you commit to catching up on some ‘me time’ and great books. We asked Sophie Groom, RESCU’s Book Critic, to give us a list of the top 10 books to read this year.

1. Girl With The Dragon Tattoo *
Swedish crime is so hot right now. This is the first book in the series that is at the top of bestseller lists right around the globe.
2. Dead Until Dark TV’s hottest character, Sookie Stackhouse, stars in the original supernatural novel that prompted the hit HBO series, True Blood.
3. The Slap The controversial Australian bestseller that is still the subject of much heated debate at dinner parties, barbecues and water coolers around the country.
4. My Sister’s Keeper * If you loved the film, you’ll love the original book (with Jodi Picoult’s orginal ending) even more. Keep the tissues handy.
5. Requiem For A Species Clive Hamilton’s new book on global warming is sure to inspire debate.
6. Wolf Hall The 2009 Booker Prize winner is the very readable story of Thomas Cromwell, advisor to Henry VIII.
7. City Of Bones One of the new range of paranormal young adult novels sweeping the world – and definitely one of the best.
8. The Power Of Now * Eckhart Tolle’s classic motivational book has inspired Oprah, and will inspire you too.
9. Breath The winner of the 2009 Miles Franklin Award, Breath is Australian author Tim Winton’s modern classic.
10. The Time Traveler’s Wife * Always a favourite, The Time Traveler’s Wife has hit the bestseller list again due to the release of the Eric Bana/Rachel McAdams movie.
