Editor's Beauty Picks of the Week

I've had a week of beauty liberation. In the spirit of spring cleaning I've embraced some new beauty routines. The most important shake up was ditching my obsession, no, addiction to gel nail manicures for a return to nail polish. The good news is that nail polishes appear to have had an evolution of their own. New long-lasting, anti-chip nail colour options are here to stay. This week I got to road test the new nail colour range from Mirenesse Bullet Proof Nail Lacquer. Think high-gloss, long-lasting, chip-resistant formula in a kaleidoscope of colours that I love. The reds in the collection are actually my favourite but have picked out a perfect nude and some sparkly shades for next week. Love it.

The thing with switching to at-home manicures is the right choice of remover. Revitanail appears to have anticipated my desire to be my own manicurist and has just launched two fantastic products. The Conditiong Remover Wipes soaked in nail-loving oils and non-acetone remover take even the toughest colours off without mess, fuss or smudge. I am in heaven. The Precision Corrector is also a godsend for at-home enthusiasts and has kept my nails looking chic and rather professionally tended to!

This week was a busy one for events. I was out three nights and was woken by my toddler in the middle of the night on two occasions. No matter what tricks I tried, my eyes gave the game away! I needed a quick fix eye remedy and so I went to the beauty cupboard. In 2010, Genefique from Lancome was my go-to skin serum. I absolutely loved the texture and the results were amazing, particularly during my pregnancy. This month, the new Génifique Yeux Light-Pearl™ Eye-Illuminating Youth Activator is here to save me. I loved the light fluid texture and hydrating formula. My peepers looked instantly rested.  The illuminating serum immediately brightens under the eye area and made my concealer last longer without creeping into fine lines. Love the metal tip applicator that is ingenious in design and also super hygienic. This is going to be HUGE.

Speaking of mothers’ little helpers, have you ever tried a highlighter? NO??? Wow, you don't know what you are missing. This week I am love, love loving Elizabeth Arden Rose Aurora Pure Finish highlighter. A beauty saviour in a compact. Brush on to cheekbones, down the nose and on the temples to bring a warming and super flattering halo effect to the face. I have been known to skip blush in favour of a highlighter, particularly if you are going for a strong lip.  Rub a little on the brown bone to give eyes an instant lift. This is beautiful and flattering. It's also likely to last you well into next year.

It's school holidays and the weather is getting warmer. We are all dreaming of a summer holiday. At home and at the office I've been burning delicious Glasshouse Coney Island Burnt Sugar and Fig candle. Nothing rekindles your best childhood memories like this gorgeous limited edition candle. It reminds me of cotton candy, salt in the air, summer holidays and my first trip to Luna Park. Burning a beautiful candle is one of my favourite gifts to self. Lasts so much longer than a bunch of flowers and definitely longer than a bottle of wine
