Expert Advice
One grooming habit that always seems to be in conflict is whether it is ok to wash your hair everyday. Everyone has an opinion for or against, but we wanted to get the facts from an expert. Brad Ngata, owner and creative director, Brad Ngata Hair Direction tells us the truth.
"Daily shampooing gets a bad rap because it's seen to be stripping the hair of its natural oils. But if you use a good quality, conditioning shampoo, you're not going to be doing any damage to your hair by using it every day.
I find that hair styles much better a day or two after washing, so wouldn't recommend it unless you like to use a lot of product in your hair, or you have fine hair that goes flat and oily after only one day. In both cases you might find that washing every day is necessary. But once you start washing every day, your hair gets used to it and becomes greasier quicker, so it's a bit of a vicious circle. The key is choosing the right product. Ask your stylist to prescribe you something and tell them you need it for every day use - they're the expert, so will be able to use their professional opinion to suggest a suitable product."
