RESCU Road Test: Hydra Spa Keratin Smoothing Treatment At ym Salon

RESCU was lucky enough to try out the Hydra Spa Keratin Smoothing Treatment at ym salon in Paddington. ym salon have recently launched ym smooth, Australia’s first private keratin smoothing treatment room.

This specific treatment (unlike other keratin straightening treatments) requires no shampoo down time and no need to wait the standard 48 ? 72 hours before you can wash, tie it up, pin it back or go to the gym. The treatment lasts 3-4 months and uses natural ingredients such as keratin wheat and rice proteins, leaving hair looking straighter and shinier and feeling softer and smoother. The Hydra Spa Keratin Smoothing Treatment is perfect for any hair type, however it is always best to wait about a week and a half before colouring hair after having had the treatment.

What we loved:
The fume less, non irritating low formaldehyde formula is kind to the scalp and very easy to tolerate. The treatment actually smells like Banana Padelpop! Hair is smooth but still has fullness and body. No more poker straight, flat hair that is the norm for straightening treatments.

What we noticed:
Hair does tend to come out 1-2 shades lighter and brighter so if you colour your hair, you may wish to go in for a toner to restore some of the depth of colour. We also found that the treatment made us pay special attention to our cut and condition of ends. Again, a trip to the salon for a tidy up and reshape will make the most of your beautifully smooth hair.

1 week later:
Hair is truly wash and wear. No gimmicks and absolutely easy to care for. This is the hair saviour we have been looking for and would not hesitate to recommend it to all our friends.

Pro Tip:
To get the most out of your Hydra Spa Keratin Smoothing Treatment and keep your hair looking feeling great, you must switch to a shampoo and conditioner with no sulphates and no sodium as these break down the Keratin coating and reduce the longevity of the treatment.
