New Zealand Brothers Ray and Des Hurley launched Bendon lingerie in 1947. Worlds away from the heavy wire and boned foundation garments that women wore at the time, the brothers came up with a revolutionising concept that would forever change intimate apparel design—lingerie that could “bend on” to the body. Appropriately named, Bendon lingerie’s success came from its continual innovation, with the introduction of stretch-strap bras, colour-coordinated slips, bras and briefs, seamless bra cups, and innovative sports bras.
