Chanel Little Black Jacket Exhibition Comes To Sydney
It's the travelling exhibition of the season, and now it's coming to Australia.
The Little Black Jacket: Chanel's Classic Revisited is a photographic exhibition featuring 113 photographs of fashion identities wearing the brand's famous jackets, from chic to casual.
The celebs? Everybody from Sarah Jessica Parker to Elle Fanning to male ballet dancers - but fashion watchers may be more interested in the shots of the label's muses.
Ines de la Fressange, Anna Mouglais and Vanessa Paradis, all of whom have inspired Karl Lagerfeld, are all shot in the iconic piece of clothing, and we guarantee it will have their unique French spin.
We're also loving that men are part of the project - from Alexander Wang to Natalie Portman's husband, Benjamin Millepied.
The exhibition has been one of the raves of the season, travelling through London, New York, Hong Kong and Tokyo before coming to our shores.
Its launch, at Pier 3 in Walsh Bay on October 25, will doubtless feature some of Australia's most fashionable creatures.
The exhibition, all of which was shot by Lagerfeld himself, is actually taken from a book by Lagerfeld and former editor of French Vogue Carine Roitfeld.
It's one of Roitfeld's newest ventures since she was pushed out of Vogue - her other one is the now-infamous new magazine CR Fashion Book, which hasn't even been launched yet but is already mounting a pile of hype.
Our favourite part of the exhibition? It's not the photographs - it's the interviews with the subjects about their attraction to the LBJ and how they view its appeal.
Lagerfeld explains that Coco Chanel was originally inspired by the male staff's jackets at a hotel in Austria, while Anna Mouglais reveals her favourite way to wear it is draped like a cape.
Ines de la Fressange, meanwhile, raves over how its simplicity is "almost Biblical".
The ultimate point of the exhibition? That the design is timeless, suits everybody, and can be worn with virtually anything.
Will you be going to check out the exhibition when it lands on Sydney's shores?
