Salma Hayek Praises Sarah Burton and Elizabeth Olsen Declares Her Love for British Style

22nd OF February 2012

Salma Hayek has hailed Sarah Burton as 'mind-blowingly extraordinary' and Elizabeth Olsen admits her desire to dress like an English schoolboy.

The Mexican actress believes the designer - who is creative director of Alexander McQueen - has done an excellent job at the label and has been impressed by her collection at London Fashion Week, which included a dress seemingly made out of an array of flowers.

She said, "The show was truly sensational - really, really amazing. Sarah Burton set the bar really high - it makes me nervous it is so good. It was so mind-blowingly extraordinary - every single piece - and very wearable."

Also on the catwalk at the show was clothing inspired by a pack of Crayola crayons, with flowers, capes and jumpsuits making an appearance.

Sarah came to worldwide fame after she created the dress worn by Britain's Duchess Catherine at her marriage to Prince William at London's Westminster Abbey on April 29.

She took over the label after the suicide of boss Alexander McQueen in 2010 just days after his mother died.

The 'Martha Marcy May Marlene' actress - whose older sisters are The Row designers Mary-Kate and Ashley - is currently in the English capital for London Fashion Week and revealed she harbors dreams of dressing like a British schoolboy.

Speaking at the Mulberry show, she told vogue.co.uk, "I love London style. I want to be a British schoolboy. There's nothing better than a navy fitted blazer."

US Vogue Editor-in-Chief Anna Wintour also praised British style - including the collections of Burberry and McQ by Alexander McQueen - saying it has left its "eccentric" label behind.

She said, "We used to come here and think it's all going to be eccentric and street chic and actually it's incredibly grown up, polished and sexy, glamorous clothes so it's a global stage now - it's wonderful."

Meanwhile, 'Tamara Drewe' star Gemma Arterton broke her self-imposed party ban to attend the Issa catwalk presentation and revealed her tips for laid-back elegance.

She said, "This is my only show. My style is laidback. I don't like embellishment. I keep it simple. It's a bit rock 'n' roll. I'm a fan of classic and elegant."
