Shapewear Style: The ultimate guide to finding your perfect Shapewear!
20th OF October 2012
Just bought an outfit you love but can’t find the right underwear to match?
Here at Rescu we know the right shapewear style for your body can go a long way and make the world of difference to how you look and feel.
Shapewear can be an instant confidence booster, which is why with summer just around the corner we’ve decided to bring you the ultimate guide in helping you find the shapewear of your dreams.
Plus we’ve called upon Nancy Ganz Shapewear Designer Janine Anggara to share her best shapewear tips, tricks and advice.
So let the Shapewear search begin!
With summer well and truly on the way our social calendar is starting to fill up fast. After all we’ve all got spring racing events, weddings and work functions to attend just to name a few!
But when you’re trying to stay on trend in colourful figure hugging body con dresses or embracing the spring fresh white on white look this season it can be quite daunting especially if you’ve had no time to hit the gym lately.
So if you’re heading to a big event and need to step it up a notch Rescu suggests the Spanx Slim Cognito Range.

Perfect for formal wear and curve hugging dresses, this seamless style is a particular favourite red carpet pick for celebrities including Madonna, Gwyneth Paltrow and Jessica Alba.
Available in a full slip, half slip and body suit option to match any outfit we love how the Spanx Slim Cognito range zones in on all problem areas at once through powerful compression.
Every day shapewear for this season’s biggest trends
Cropped white jeans are a huge trend this season as are high waisted figure hugging skirts but there’s probably only few people (if any!) who feel confident when it comes to wearing these tight white looks.
Nancy Ganz designer Janine recommends: Seamless Seduction High Waist Bike Shorts

“To ensure one continuous smooth line under your most fitted pair of high waisted white jeans or this seasons body-con dresses, you can not go past the new Seamless Seduction High Waist Bike Shorts. This finely knitted bike short gives you firm control through the tummy, hips, thighs and midriff areas, and is completely seamless so no more VPL [visible panty lines]!”
Sheer is also one of the biggest trends this coming summer but what to wear underneath this revealing style is a whole other ball game.
Luckily long gone are the days of the unsightly Bridget Jones granny panties!
We love Yummy Tummie’s affordable and super stylish Camie Pantie available in black, white and skin colour perfect for any sheer occasion.

Want more options for stylish shapewear?
We love how shapewear now includes lingerie-inspired looks that make you look and feel more confident.
Janine recommends the Nancy Ganz Romance Lace Briefs as seen in the latest ‘Shape Your Escape’ campaign.
“Romantic Babydoll Slips, Cami’s and half-Slips are an ideal piece for summer – the essential piece you need in your wardrobe this summer, perfect for layering under those sheer silk dresses!”
Spanx’ Haute Contour collection is also filled with lace and sheer detailing making it a great alternative to basic shapewear options.
Beach ready shapewear
No time to hit the gym this summer?
You’re in luck. Shapewear swimsuits offer something for every body type with slimming one pieces, tankinis and flirty swim dresses available for your choosing. Giving you flattering and stylish coverage for those days by the beach and pool.
We love the divine Nancy Ganz ‘Shape Your Escape’ collection on offer right now with designer Janine’s favourite piece being this striped Charlotte swimsuit.

“It reminds me of the beautiful French Rivera where the summer 12 campaign was shot, and to me, embodies everything that this collection represents - modern, contemporary body sculpting swimwear designed for the confident Nancy Ganz woman.”
Now, Nancy Ganz designer Janine gives her 5 top tips on how to get the best fit when it comes to your shapewear.
Tip #1: Choose wisely
“It really is all about the fit ladies - If you are not sure about your body shape or familiar with what shapewear options are available then get professional advice. It is important to wear the right products for your shape, to get the best result.”
Tip #2: Watch out for unwanted bulges where shapewear ends
“If you are getting bulges where your Shapewear stops then potentially you are wearing the wrong size. Alternatively try a different style as not all styles work for all body types. Some Shapewear can feel constrictive at times, so find a product that focuses on the area you actually need to shape. It should be snug but you should also be able to breathe - make sure you are comfortable when trying all of these options on. If you don't feel comfortable, you won't act comfortable and it will definitely show!”
Tip #3: Shapwear isn’t just for firming your tummy certain styles are available to specifically target upper back roles above and below your bra.
“A very popular shaping silhouette at the moment are our "under bust" garments which are designed specifically to target this area. They are like traditional shapewear but have the bust area removed – The best thing about them is the versatility of being able to choose your favourite bra for the look you want. These products specifically focus on smoothing and covering up any back rolls and bra bumps you may have, and also smoothing out those pesky unwanted lines! Look specifically for the Nancy Ganz Underbust Jumpsuit, Underbust Bodysuit and slip, which now also come in the beautiful Allure lace range!”
Tip #4: Don’t fall for shapewear myths
“Most women have a misconception that you need to downsize in Shapewear to ensure that its tight enough and holds everything in! Luckily, these is no truth in this whatsoever! Instead, it’s recommended that you try on Shapewear in exactly the same size you would normally wear. Remember, there are many styles of Shapewear, so be open to trying on as many different shapes as you can, as this is not a one size fits all situation! Allow yourself some time, never try on Shapewear when you are flustered or in a hurry - it can be like an aerobic workout so set aside a little bit of time when trying to find the perfect piece! It should be snug but you should also be able to breathe.”
Tip #5: Apply your shapewear like you would a pair of stockings
“The trick to getting into our Shapewear is to think of it as a pair of pantyhose - fold or roll down the item and, most importantly step into it. Then pull it over your hips and unroll. This is much easier than dragging it up. Yes even camisoles!!!! It might feel like a bit of workout but once you are in, you should feel comfortable and ready to take on the world!”
