Children's Books: Rudie Nudie by Emma Quay
23rd OF September 2012
Rudie Nudie was the smash hit picture book of 2011. Its author and illustrator Emma Quay is based in Australia, and last year she was Winner of Book of the Year for Younger Children in the 2012 Australian Book Industry Awards for the delightful Rudie Nudie.
This is a charming rhyming tale which follows the adventures of two slightly wayward toddlers during bathtime. It’s proven a hit with parents who have long endured the wrangling of reluctant toddlers to bath time.
Rudie Nudie is a short and undemanding read that is recommended for ages 2+. The illustration is deceptively simple, with pencil drawn figures and warm blocks of yellow, pink and blue that kids are absolutely fascinated by. The cheerful tone and lively illustration ensures this is a book kids will be coming back to again and again.
About the author: Since moving to Australia in 1993, Emma has illustrated a wide range of award-winning children's picture books. Her memorable characters are favourites on many children's and library bookshelves. Emma's illustrative work is held in collections around the world, including the Victoria and Albert Museum, London.
