Cooking for Charity: A Collection of Treasured Recipes to Share

3rd OF October 2012

There’s something about the kitchen and cooking that brings people together and Helen Burge and Kirsty Willows have released a cookbook designed to do just that.

The ladies have put together a 200page cookbook called, ‘After Dinner Mints for Breakfast’ which features 160 treasured recipes from friends and family – all tried and tested of course!

The amazing and extra special part of the release of this book is that 100% of the proceeds are going straight to the Captain Courageous Foundation to raise money for a rare condition of Bone Marrow Failure Diseases.

For first time authors, the ladies have rallied together and 100% of the book design has been donated, as well as the printing.

Two years in the making, Kirsty said putting the book together was no small feat.

“We keep pinching ourselves; it has been remarkable to ask people for help and to have been met with such positivity every time,” she said.

“All the contributors have gone beyond expectations, and the result is beautiful.”

The girls wanted to offer a book of recipes that catered for many different entertaining occasions, such as romantic dinners, fun children’s play dates, gourmet picnics, relaxing Sunday afternoons on the verandah, memorable birthday parties or happy meals around the kitchen table.

Each chapter begins with a beautiful story and menu following the occasion theme, followed by more than 20 recipes that can be substituted into the main menu.

The cookbook even has the king and queen of the kitchen’s sign of approval as Jamie Oliver has given authorisation to republish a few of his recipes and Maggie Beer has endorsed the book personally!

The cookbook is available now online and in selected stores across Adelaide, Melbourne and Sydney for $50. To purchase online or look up stockists visit - captaincourageousfoundation.com
