A public holiday (for the lucky NSW and ACT residents!) is always the best way to delve into a new month. After a rested long weekend, jump straight into a varied range of activities this October. What: Ar(t)gyle at The Argyle‏

Every Thursday in October, the courtyard of The Argyle will come alive with renowned Sydney artists creating live canvas art pieces, as part of the second annual "Red Bull Curates Ar(t)gyle."

What: You + 1 floating festival

Talented DJ Steve Aoki, Rudimental and Flight Facilities come together for the Sydney Harbour boat party hosted by You+1. A first for the Australian dance scene, the exclusive event will only sell 700 tickets.

What: No Vacancy A new intimate lounge club is hitting Sydney’s nightlife scene this October. Inspired by the boutique lounges of Los Angeles, No Vacancy is tucked away from the business of Kings Cross.

What: For the love of coffee

Described as a show about how coffee factors into your life, this innovative exhibition features art and jewelry with accompanying, explanatory wall text. Rather than focus on the final creation, the pieces will highlight stories and experiences shared over a cup of coffee.

What: Tasting on Hastings

Local chefs, winemakers, farmers and producers come together in October for a program of culinary events in NSW’s fastest growing town, Port Macquarie. From High Teas to Breakfast in Beds to Degustation, there is something for everyone.

What: Melbourne Fringe Festival

Celebrating 30 years of bold and daring art, the Melbourne Fringe Festival showcases a culmination of work from thousands of artists. The Festival centers around the hub in North Melbourne but will host over 300 events, performances, and exhibitions all across Melbourne.

What: South Pacific

This ground-breaking production features a 25-piece orchestra and all-star cast. The three-hour long musical has consistently sold out during two and a half year runs on Broadway and West End.

What: Green City Dash

This free event will see 50 of Brisbane’s most intriguing buildings open its doors to the public and reveal long-kept secrets.

What: St. Andrew’s War Memorial Hospital Gala Dinner

The annual dinner featuring live music, fine food and wine, dancing, and entertainment, raises proceeds for new equipment for the hospital. Held in a stunning marquee at the top of Victoria Park Function Venue, guests will be able to take in the Brisbane city skyline.

What: Floriade 2012
