11th OF July 2012
Kristen Stewart is touted to play the virgnial lead in the upcoming film adaption of 50 Shades of Grey, and vera wang has split with her husband of twenty-three years.
It was only a matter of time before Hollywood jumped on the 50 Shades of Grey phenomenon. The erotic best-selling novel, is to be adapted for the big screen by the producers of The Social Network - amid reports Sydney booksellers are struggling to keep up with consumer demand.
In the rush to bring the E.L. James to movie theatres, speculation of the film's casting has already begun.
Angelina Jolie and Jane Campion have been touted as possible directors while Kristen Stewart is a favourite to play the virginal lead. Leaving her twilight roots behind Kristen continues to prove her acting chops, most recently in Snow White and the Huntsman, alongside Chris Hemsworth.
Ironically, the book started out as fan fiction, featuring the lead characters of the Twilight series.
Since being picked up by Vintage Books in March - the novels were originally published by Sydney's Amanda Haywood - the Fifty Shades trilogy has sold 31 million print and digital books in 41 countries, 20 million in the US.
Vera Wang has split from her husband Arthur Becker. The designer - who is famed for her bridal gowns - and her spouse of 23 years have two daughters, Cecilia and Josephine and have vowed to remain amicable for the sake of their children.
A statement released by her company's president, Mario Grauso, said, "Vera Wang and Arthur Becker have mutually and amicably agreed to separate. They remain devoted parents to their two daughters."
Becker is believed to have been instrumental in Vera - who was working for Ralph Lauren women's accessories and at-home wear when they married - striking out on her own and advised her as her business developed. He has also become more involved with the day-to-day operations at Vera Wang in recent years.
A friend of the designer's who asked not to be identified told WWD, "They will not let this impact the running of the company. They have worked too hard to build it up."
Along with her successful clothing designs, Vera has also created fragrances and recently launched her own make-up range. She teamed up with Kohl's stores to release Simply Vera, a line of affordable and stylish cosmetics which includes primers, shadows, moisturisers and lip colours.
