Monica Bellucci Becomes Faces of Dolce and Gabbana Make-up and Alexa Chung Named Young Style Ambassador by British Fashion Council

18th OF February 2012

Monica Bellucci, the Italian icon, has become the new face of Dolce & Gabbana make-up, while Alexa Chung adds another notch to her fashion belt with the British Fashion Council named her a Young Style Ambassador.

Monica Bellucci has become the new face of Dolce & Gabbana make-up. The stunning actress - who appeared in Dolce & Gabbana's spring/summer 2012 campaign - will join the likes of Scarlett Johansson and Felicity Jones in representing the Italian fashion house's cosmetics.

Domenico Dolce said, "We love Monica and have worked with her many times over the past 20 years. Her beauty is timeless. She expresses the Dolce & Gabbana woman perfectly," Stefano Gabbana added, "She is ravishing - a true Italian icon."

To celebrate the appointment, Monica will launch her own limited-edition range with the brand - Monica Lipstick Collection. The 47-year-old star said, "I'm delighted to be collaborating with Domenico and Stefano on Dolce & Gabbana The Make Up. I have always adored the aesthetic of Dolce & Gabbana and it's so exciting to be involved with their creative process."

Alexa Chung has been named the British Fashion Council as young style ambassador. The 28-year-old presenter - who joins cultural ambassador Laura Bailey and young ambassador Poppy Delvingne - is "proud" to have been asked to champion UK designers in her new role.

She said, "I always name London first when asked which city in the world has the best style. "There's something so inherently rebellious about how people naturally style themselves. Brits aren't afraid to experiment or take risks with how they look; perhaps that's why London has always been home to the most dynamic and daring designers in the world. I adore fashion and am proud that it's now officially my job to champion those London designers - both new and established - that inspire me so much."

The British Fashion Council (BFC) are equally thrilled to have "hugely influential" Alexa on board. BFC chief executive Caroline Rush said, "We're delighted to announce this role for Alexa. She is hugely influential in both the fashion industry and to the wider public, who have voted her as winner of the British Style Award at the British Fashion Awards for two years running."
