Rihanna Dropped by Nivea and Liam Hemsworth Wants Own Fashion Line
7th OF August 2012
Rihanna is no longer the face of Nivea and Liam Hemsworth is looking at starting his own fashion line.
Rihanna has been dropped by Nivea. The singer appeared in an advertisement for the company, which was a sponsor of her 'Loud' world tour, last year but cosmetic tycoon Stefan Heidenreich - the new head of Nivea's parent firm, Beiersdorf - thinks she is too outrageous for the brand.
He said: "The advert starring Rihanna was a no go. I do not understand how Nivea can be brought into association with Rihanna.
"Nivea is a company which stands for trust, family and reliability."
Last year Rihanna fronted the brand's 100 Years Skincare for Life campaign, and Nivea released a photograph of the then red haired star posing seductively and apparently naked.
At the time, representative for the brand, Markus Pinger, said: "We are excited to have Rihanna supporting us in our celebration and building a new generation of fans.
"Over the past 100 years, Nivea has been an iconic skin-care brand across the world.
"Rihanna is a music icon and her digital footprint will help us bring our anniversary celebration to consumers wherever they are."
Nivea also threw a party for the singer to celebrate her birthday in Beverly Hills, Los Angeles. Rihanna wore a sexy, almost flesh coloured dress, with a purple fringe, while the venue was with ice sculptures, including one with an 'R' on it. There were also cupcakes for guests decorated with flags from Rihanna's native Barbados.
Liam Hemsworth wants to launch his own fashion label. The 'Hunger Games' actor is considering creating his own range in the industry and he has been getting a helping hand from his fiancee Miley Cyrus, who was checking out men's fashion shows at SoHo fashion trade show Project New York on Monday (23.07.12) to do some research for her husband-to-be. A source told the New York Post newspaper:
"Liam's looking to get his start in the business, and may be thinking of launching a label of his own."
Last month, Liam was unveiled as the new face of Bench clothing following in the footsteps of a number of stars including Joe Jonas, 'The Vampire Diaries' actor Michael Trevino, 'Pretty Little Liars' singer Lucy Hale and 'American Idol's David Archuleta.
The 22-year-old actor met with Ben Chan, owner of the Filipino brand, in Los Angeles in June to arrange final details of his contract and billboards containing his image have been put up along the Pasig river in Guadalupe and in Manila in the Philippines.
Liam romantically proposed to Miley in May with a 3.5-carat cushion-cut diamond ring, handcrafted in 18-Karat gold from Neil Lane which he designed himself.
