Versace Front Row at Paris Fashion Week
24th OF January 2012
Versace's first couture show since 2004 was nothing short of spectacular with the collection dominated by sequinned strapless column dresses, golden studs and crystal encrusted bodices. And there was the star power to match, Cameron Diaz, Diane Kruger and Chloe Sevigny joined American Vogue editor Ana Wintour in the front row.
Chief designer Donatella Versace added shining gold details on dresses, giving a military allure contrasting with the more feminine off-the-shoulder corset-inspired pieces which were a main feature.
Versace's couture return was marked with bursts of colour in yellow, green and red. The luxury fashion house also recently teamed up with the high-street store H&M for a new affordable clothing line aimed at a wider audience. The collaboration, "it made me realise I had to come back to Paris to show that Versace is a couture house," Donatella Versace said backstage.
The celebrity sparkle almost out-shon the haute couture presentation with actresses Cameron Diaz, Diane Kruger, Abbie Cornish and Chloe Sevigny adorning the front row with Vogue editor Ana Wintour.
"The world needs glamour," added Versace, "and I missed couture". In just 15 looks, Versace made sure each corseted, beaded, embroidered and sculpted model rang true to what Versace called "glamorous warriors".
