SCOUT looks at the trends going into store and breaks down our favourite looks from the collections. It’s all about colour this season so don’t be shy.

Louche Stripe

Loose and causal suit trousers and shift dresses get redone with big bold stripes that fall down the line of the body and give colour blocking a new spin.
Notably seen at Pedro Lourenco (pictured), the Brazilian wunderkind designer mixed his stripes with macaw parrots in flight.
At 10 Crosby Derek Lam, the new diffusion line, trousers hang loose like pajamas and the burgundy and orange combinations reference fall colour cards, but feel light and resort fresh.
At Balmain, the stripe is tightly edited to a golden row of what looks like sequins, pouring down the outer leg.

Lace Love

Lace has received a playful remake with some of the resort shows.
Christopher Kane (pictured) retains his cheeky and whimsical appeal with rainbow degrade lace.
At Francesco Scognamiglio and Jonathan Saunders, lace patterns are printed so smoothly, they look as if they were meticulously cut by hand.
Louis Vuitton and No. 21 showed cool bold colored lace dresses and short suits that were chic and slightly subversive, giving the once precious fabric an edge.

Full Frontal Print

Separates in lively prints are always in fashion, but designers have been showing prints from head to toe and it is certainly not as passe as it once seemed.
With their Hawaiian holiday themed collection, Suno showed a boyish cropped pajama look in mini floral.
At Roberto Cavalli, the full print is a sort of hybrid, part tropical orchid, part wild animal.
Missoni (pictured) takes on its graphic prints in a light pastel palette.
Akris and Antonio Beradri offered more formal and polished ideas on the trend, with abstract nature inspired prints, head to toe.

Skirt Ideas

Skirts are definitely an emphasized piece in this round of collections.
Donna Karan and Carven (pictured) showed voluminous ones that had a fifties poodle skirt flounce to them.
At Mugler, the skirt was pieced together with a tech sport attitude.
At Marni, the tulip shape is elongated and trimmed in a contrast colour which informs a 1960s slash Bauhaus design moment.
Willow takes the wrap silhouette and transforms it into a strongly tailored petal skirt.

Scarf Moment

With the bevy of florals, animal skins and photographic postcard prints, to name only a few, pattern and print are certainly seen a plenty in every collection.
Scarf inspired prints offer a clean take on the pattern plethora and look bright and tightly edited.
Sometimes scenic, others with tribal references, these prints are graphic and fresh, incorporated thoughtfully into a halter dress at Derek Lam (pictured) and loose blouses at Alberta Ferretti.

Trend Alert: Metallics

It might be that the party season is about to hit us but we can’t ignore the fact that high street brands are getting in early with some lovely looks and pieces using metallic fabrics, finishes and details with gold and splashes of silver as the draw card.

Zara really gets top marks for mixing luxe and glam with wearability for now, combining subtle metallic knits with denim and black basics for example. As once the party is over these pieces will still look chic and stylish for everyday.
