By Chloe Brinklow

New make up trends don’t magically appear out of thin air – they are born on the runway! Thought up and executed by some of the world’s best make up artists, we pick and choose what’s hot and what’s not! What we will be trying at home, and what will be staying put on the runway, at least until next season.

RESCU brings you the top 5 hottest M.A.C make up looks from Milan with tips and tricks on how to re-create them at home.

Peachy Keen At Iceberg

Golden and glossy, the make up at Iceberg created by M.A.C’s Charlotte Tilbury was fresh, dewy and full of sunset goodness. Bold orange tones have been making waves in the make up realm for quite sometime but at RESCU we are loving this down-played, peachy, almost nude version of the ‘it’ colour.

RESCU Tip: This colour looks great on eyes and lips but don’t over do it. Pair with a minimal, nude base and don’t forget to prime coloured areas first, for longer lasting wear. RESCU loves: Napoleon Perdis Auto Pilot Lip Service ($28) and Benefit Stay Don’t Stray (for eyes - $45).

Dark Drama At DSQUARED2

A RESCU favourite DSQUARED2 fashion, hair and make up didn’t disappoint! Inspired by Nicole Kidman in Cold Mountain, a gritty sun kissed base was paired with dark, smouldering eyes and mascara-drenched eyelashes. The perfect look to recreate for evening wear, we loved the mix of bronze and black.

RESCU tip: With this look, you are creating the illusion that the eye sits on a diagonal angle. Using your favourite liquid liner (RESCU favourites here) draw the lower line underneath the eye, starting from the outside, and as you work your way to the inner corner, pull the liner down half a centimetre to create a gap between the liner and eye. Fill the gap with a little bit of brown shadow to finish. Perfect!

Bold and Beautiful At Etro

Let’s face it, bold brows are old news! Everyone is talking about them and most girls are including beefed up brows in their daily look. So why are the bold brows at Etro worthy of making our trend list? They were masculine yet soft, not too over the top, dark or overdone. We love!

Application tip: When it comes to defining brows, there is a fine line between Bert and Ernie - A don’t! And Bambi (Not the cartoon deer, the stunning Aussie model who has brows that are to-die-for). To really nail ‘Etro’ bold brows, use M.A.C eyeliner pencil in colours, fling or lingering, or try the MAC Brow Shader ($32). Start small, remembering you can apply more product if needed.

Popping Pouts At Missoni

At RESCU we can’t get past big, bright lips, and do you blame us? The easiest way to add sophistication, colour and fun to any look, bold lippy is here to stay! The best way to nail the look is by working with seasonal colours and the Missoni pinky plum lips couldn’t be a better example! Bright oranges and hot pink are typically summer shades and look great against tanned skin. Darker colours like plum, raspberry and purple are bang on trend for cooler weather and look great against minimal make up.

RESCU tip: Don't be shy to try this fabulous trend, we guarantee once you find a shade that suits you, you won't want to take your lippy off, ever!

Ultra Violet At Marni

Notebooks out girls, this season’s hottest colour is Purple. No matter what the variation - light, pastel, bright or bold, for lips, eyes or even cheeks - purple hues are in! The Make Up Look at Marni was dewy and grungy with the use of colour-of-the-moment, purple all over the face adding a playful feel.

RESCU tip: If your not a fan of too much violet, why not experiment with a little coloured mascara or eyeliner to ease into the trend? Accentuating one feature works a treat and you won’t be too far out of the comfort zone. RESCU loves: Benefit BadGal Plum Mascara ($38) and Artiste Popping Punk Duo Angle Liner + Rounded Smudge Brush ($18.95)
You know you’re head-over-heels in love with a fashion week collection, when your heart literally skips beats as the first images roll in from the other side of the world. The clothes have you considering another credit card and the hair and make up, make you want to dash to the nearest salon and undergo a complete runway inspired make over.

What shows gave us butterflies in Milan this fall? Roberto Cavalli and Fendi! Two big labels that certainly didn’t disappoint!

The RESCU Runway Rundown...

Roberto Cavalli

The hair? Wet-look and wonderful! The Make Up? Sexy and Strong. The clothes? To-die-for!

The Hair And Make Up

We weren’t too sure about the gritty hair at Alexander Wang a few seasons ago but a similar style at Roberto Cavalli this week, oozed sex appeal, working well with a tribal, almost warrior-esque collection. The make up was kept natural excluding the eyes, which were a focal point - heavily lined, dark and smoky. For tips and tricks on how to recreate them, read MAC Make Up Artist, Nicole Thompson’s eyeliner guide.

The Clothes

Referencing past collections, metallic, tribal print and a strong colour palette of black, maroon, gold, brown and grey were on display. Shoes featured included, sky high cut out metallic heels, mid height loafers and lace up heeled brogues, which introduced a masculine edge to a strong, yet petty collection.

Key pieces: A super stylish sheer leopard print maxi, cut-out-shoulder throw cape and Metallic wet look trousers, We Love!

Fendi

The Clothes

Designers Karl Lagerfield and Silvia Venturini took us on a trip back in time, to the 70s, with colour blocking and layer-upon-layer ensembles. The neutral colour palette of brown, navy and grey was livened up with pops of orange, yellow, green and purple. We loved the ribbed bright tights and cute coloured shoes, but in true Fendi style, the bright, bold bags stole the show!

The Hair And Make Up

Half the models wore burnt orange shadow and the other half silver and grey. Adhering to the age old rule of only applying statement make up to one facial feature, the colourful eyes were paired wit a neutral base and nude lip allowing natural beauty and complexion to shine through. A slightly puffed quiff , rolled back into to a sleek mid height up do, was sophisticated and sexy, perfect for the office or an evening out.

By Chloe Brinklow

Have you ever come across an old black and white picture of your mother, grandmother or great grandmother and wished you could recreate a look as classic? Well, now you can with Wella Professional’s, Eugene Souleiman, as he gives RESCU his step-by-step guide to recreating the 50s inspired do, that marched down the runway at Antonio Marass!

The collection itself was inspired by a romantic look back into childhood, with the show’s invitation featuring an old photograph of Antonio’s mother. The clothing stuck to a colour palette of classic black and red, and the hair and make up was created, with this classic, sophisticated feel in mind,

“I wanted to create a look that celebrated the beauty of imperfection. I started with Antonio’s influence of his mother and combined this with broader references that ranged from the romantic looks of the renaissance era to the ‘50s pin up” Eugene Souleiman said.

We think this look is uber-feminie with an element of power and independance. The texture and fluidity is very of-the-moment, giving it that quirky, can’t look away feel. We will be experimenting with this one at evening cocktails and black tie events.

Get The Look: Eugene’s Step By Step Guide.

1. Start with freshly washed and conditioned hair, apply Sleek Wonder ($23.50) from Wella Professionals High Hair Styling range before blow drying hair straight using a round soft bristled brush.

2. Create a side parting and then take the large front section of hair from the side of the head on the short side of the parting and spray with Wella Professionals High Hair Crystal Styler ($23.50), then lift the entire section and pull up tight with a round brush using a blowdryer to add heat to keep this section tight to the head and in an upright direction.

3. Spray Wella Professionals High Hair Finishing spray ($23.50) onto a flat soft bristle brush and brush onto the side section in an upward direction. Next take this section of hair and back comb softly against the roots with a fine toothcomb to create texture.

4. Create a ‘pin up’ by taking the side section of hair and using chopsticks, wind the hair around the chopsticks to create a tight roll, slide out the chopsticks and clip the hair into place using hair grips.

5. Next, brush the hair on the other side of the parting flat and square against the head and back behind the ear. Using a large contrasting hair grip to hold hair in place and keep it flat.

6. Pull hair into a side low ponytail then twist, while at the same time, pulling towards the nape of the neck. When the complete section of hair is twisted, pin the hair in place, using one hair grip inserted horizontally and then another vertically to form a cross to anchor the style. Don’t worry about flyaways and loose hairs, this is all part of the look as it should not look to perfect.

By Chloe Brinklow

Pretty and punk, Roccobarocco offered something for everyone in a mixed display of structured pieces, out-of-the-world accessories and floaty feminine dresses. Colour blocking and playing with gender is nothing new to high fashion either, but when someone does it as well as Roccobarocco, we just can’t not write about it!

The clothes

Colours And Structure

The Roccobarocco collection offered a smorgasbord of looks, with something for everyone and any occasion. At the Milan runway show, the colours of the Italian flag were appropriately featured, together and separately, along with black, white and metallics.

Tuxedo style jackets were in stark contrast against lingerie style bodices and floaty chiffon skirts, demonstrating a real reference to masculine and feminine dressing and stereotypes.

We just can’t get enough of the metallic pink foil trench and the white, full circle, short-at-the-front, bodice dress, that would be the perfect wow dress for a formal event.

The Hair

Up In The Clouds Ponytails

Swinging 60s ponytails were sky high, in a fun do that marched down the runway. Hair on top was slick with not a strand out of a place and black coil ribbons were secured at the base of pony, so it looked like hair was standing up on its own, before sprouting into a long, straight mane.

Get the look

Tools you will need: A hair tie, black ribbon, fine tooth comb and hair spray or gel.

1. To get your ponytail super high throw hair forward with your head down and gather in hands, making sure to collect wispy bits from the front and back.

2. Bring head back level and secure with hair tie, checking in mirror for placement and precision. Using a strong hold hairspray or gel, RESCU loves: KMS California, Hairplay Paste Up Spray ($36.95) spray all over and use a fine tooth comb to brush back and up towards the pony tail for extra slickness.

3. To finish the look, use a black ribbon to wrap (criss-crossing) around the base of the pony tail, knot and tuck ends back into already wrapped ribbon, and you're done!

The Accessories

From round sunglasses, a RESCU favourite, to flight attendant hats (a cute touch), the accessories at Roccobarocco gave the collection attitude and edge. Purple suede ankle cut heels (pictured) were on display, featuring a number of buckles and a zip back that gave off a punk vibe. While we weren’t massive fans of the fool print tights they were paired with, we can imagine rock star celebs like Gwen Stefanie or Fergie, pulling them off.

In the third week of the month long extravaganza that is Autumn/Winter fashion week, designers, make up artists and hair stylists showing in Milan have stepped up to the plate presenting incredible, innovative and fresh creations. Each city has its own vibe and at Milan it is polished and chic, sophisticated and fresh.

RESCU brings today’s Top 4 Picks from the Milan Runway.

Nude and Neutral at Kristina Ti

At RESCU we love nothing more than a simple colour palette and gorgeous wearable designs! And at Kristina Ti, both boxes were definitely ticked. Show casing colour-of-the moment, nude along with brown, grey, khaki, black and blue, we literally wanted to steal the clothes off the model's backs as they walked onto the runway. Our favourite outfit? (Pictured left) Brown pleated culotte shorts, long sleeve frill top, cut out stockings and nude mid-height pumps! Sums up the perfect winter outfit and why everyone at RESCU HQ is praying for a cold snap.

Crimped Hair at Kristian Aadnevik

Once reserved for blue light discos and 13th birthday parties, crimped hair keeps popping up in the fashion world (remember Carrie’s do, at Stanford’s wedding in Sex And The City 2) and this time we think it could translate to real life. Models at Kristian Aadnevik walked the runway with a subtle crimp that appeared brushed out and lusciously voluminous.

Get the look: One of the easiest dos to recreate (though a little time consuming), with the Remington Crimptini ($22.95) crimp hair, leaving about 2cm from the roots to avoid close-to-the-scalp dents that can look messy, comb out and spritz with hairspray to finish.

Plum Lips At Ellena Miro

In typical Autumn/Winter fashion, make up was dark yet polished, at Ellena Miro. As the temperature drops and our summer tan fades, we feel less of a need to wear brights and bolds and opt for more natural, warm and classic beauty looks. Perfect for glamorous dinner dates or important work meetings this lip is beautiful, powerful and chic.

Rescu recommends: Even though on the runway, heavy eye and lip make up worn together looks good, in real life it can be a little too much. When rocking a plum lip, a quick wave of the mascara wand is all you need for the eyes.

Off the shoulder at Alberta Ferretti

Typically a Spring/Summer cut, this gorgeous off-the-shoulder style allows you to show off just a little skin without the worry of freezing to death when the weather turns. At Alberta Ferretti, the grey silk romper, paired with blue suede platform pumps made for the perfect feminie ensemble.

RESCU trend tip: When shopping for this look keep in mind, off the shoulder works best in looser style varieties. Anything one-sided and skin tight can look 80s inspired and a little tacky.

Milan Fashion Week 2010 was a seriously fashionable affair.

The week began in frenzy when Vogue Editor-in-Chief Anna Wintour decided that she would only be spending three days in Milan. Her announcement stirred Italian designers into a tizzy, as they reshuffled and rescheduled in the attempt to have Ms. Wintour attend their shows.

Nevertheless, Milan hosted a wonderful week with eighty-six catwalk shows boasting the best in Italian design. Fashionistas and celebrities flocked to Milan; Rachel Zoe was spotted at Missoni, Pixie Lott performed at Moschino, Clive Owen sat front row at Armani, Lindsay Lohan supported Cavalli and everyone is talking about Ashley Greene, who attended numerous shows including Gucci.

The collections coming down the runway screamed style and sophistication and reminded us all why Milan is known as the Fashion Capital of the World.

At RESCU, we’ve read all of Tali Shine’s blogs, we’ve been glued to the photo galleries too. And now, drumroll please, here are our official top 5 favourite shows:
1. Marni (pictured above right)
We loved the pop-art patterns, structured silhouettes and kooky colours (think oxblood red and turquoise green) and the smokey eyes dusted on in moss greens, browns and grays.

2. Gucci (pictured above left)
We loved the return to the Gucci signature; perfectly tailored pants with the front crease and flattering flare as well as the minimalistic palette of white, nude, brown and grey.

3. Bottega Veneta
We loved the sleek-styled hair, smoothed up and down, the slouchy bags that we can throw our whole lives into and those black leather, double breasted pantsuits.
We loved Versace for making us feel sexy in leather leggings, skirts with slits up-to-there, provocative cut outs and skintight dresses.

5. Prada
We loved the bold brows, the modern chignons tied together with woollen hair-bands, the geek chic clothing and, above all, the ode to the real woman in the form of curvaceous models boasting ample breasts.

Bring on Paris!!

By Tali Shine

There was a distinct combination of the tribe and the warrior at the Etro show. It was part Ancient Egypt, part Far East and part military maven, due to a combination of prints, designs and accessories.

Exotic at Etro
Belted kimonos and satin oriental printed trousers allowed fluid movement. These were heavily embroidered and combined with rich Saigon red satins.

Jewel coloured luxurious silks in navy and magenta were accessorised with the type of chunky gold necklaces that would have made Cleopatra swoon, and made us want to ‘walk like an Egyptian’.

For a modern look that is also in keeping with the current military trend, the tribes will be kept in line with tailored military jackets that were belted over fur scarves and worn with jodhpurs, skirts and slim-line tailored trousers.

Midriffs at Missoni
More tribal patterns made their way onto the runway at Missoni in the form of intricate knitwear with additional layering of fur, silk, velvet and velour to create dresses, blanket coats and warrior wraps.

Whilst the fabric was heavy and perfect for winter, there was a contradicting amount of exposed skin in the form of bare midriffs on tops that were pulled high and deep slits on patchwork skirts that were worn backwards to reveal even more flesh.

Missoni poster girl, Margherita, who also designed neon accessories for this collection has in the past talked of her excitement at attending the music festival Burning Man. Festival goers take note- this collection is the perfect wardrobe for it.

By Tali Shine

Ferragamo’s spring campaign was an ode to one of our favourite icons, Grace Kelly. Keeping with the movie star theme, it appeared that the look for Autumn/Winter 2010 was inspired by another silver screen siren, Greta Garbo. However, rather than her 30s wardrobe, clothes in this collection were modernised a little and there was a distinct 70s vibe.

Earthy Autumn at Ferragamo
The collection comprised mainly of tailored daywear in earthy, autumnal colours of brown, beige and mustard.

Knitted vests were belted and worn with neck ties, suede trenches fell softly and capes with leather trimming swung from the models’ shoulders. Chunky turtlenecks were combined with lurex and leather shorts and accessorised with fedoras, beanies and suede boots.

We were relieved that amongst the day wear, there were still Riviera worthy liquid metal dresses that elegantly swayed in the breeze as models gracefully strode down the runway in them.

Cross-breeding at Cavalli
It was more bohemian chic than the type of wild sex goddess that we expected from Roberto Cavalli, but there were still enough animal prints used to convince us that Cavalli is indeed King of the Jungle. In fact so much so that he no longer relies on standard leopard prints, but has turned into a cross breeder and come up with his very own unique animal print.

Delicate lace leggings, sparkling sequin and wide legged chiffon creations that looked like something out of ‘Arabian Nights’ were worn with luxurious fur coats of mink, fox and even raccoon in this unique animal print. Layered vests, shirts and scarves gave even more texture and interest to the look.

The Cavalli lady is still wild at heart and she wears her heart on her sleeve.

Fetish ballerina at Versus
There was a bondage feel to the Christopher Kane designed collection at Versus for Autumn/Winter 2010 with high gladiator sandals, peek-a-boo bras and cut-out panels on display. But rather than a dominatrix feel, the look was more punk ballerina.

Organza petticoats and angora cardigans made their way down the runway next to acid washed t-shirts and satin, which was pleated and used to create edgy Rock n Roll tutus in bright orange and aqua. Time to turn up the music.

By Tali Shine

Some things just go together. Romeo and Juliet, Batman and Robin, Bogie and Bacall and let’s not forget Versace and sex appeal. This very Versace type of sex appeal includes slashed fabrics, thigh-high splits, exposed zippers and plenty of bare skin.

However, rather than the usual Versace Italian Goddess look, the look for A/W 2010 was Motorcycle Minx…

Motorcycle Minx at Versace
Sizzling mini dresses and skirts with futuristic panels of either heavy metal or neon patent leather were juxtaposed with skin tight pant suits. On these suits, contrasting leather inserts stood out from the stretch fabrics also used.

In typical Versace style models stomped down the catwalk in chunky sky-high shoes.

Luck Lady at Emporio Armani
The mistress was taken care of at Versace and the wife taken care of at Giorgio Armani, there is still the young fiancé to clothe. She is flirty and fresh, but still has an uptown air about her and likes to match her pearls with her mini skirt. That is where Emporio Armani comes in. Young, sporty but still uber luxe.

For A/W 2010, the Emporio Armani woman will be covering herself in fur; wearing shrunken fur jackets with short skirts, trousers and dresses, both day and evening.

For evening, she also has a range of draped skirts and 50s style cocktail dresses with ruffled hems to choose from.

For day, there are no nonsense trousers and tailored jackets with defined waists and structured shoulders that are the perfect attire for brunch with her mother- in -law to be.

The unusual combining of different fabrics set this collection apart and created texture, interest and a luxurious feel. Rich velvets were combined with organza and fur was mixed with leather in a way that looked as though these fabrics were made to be worn together.

Managerial minimalism at Jil Sander
The Jil Sander woman means business. She appreciates the dark and moody fabrics in black, grey, plum and tartan patterns and the slick and tailored designs that make up the Autumn/Winter 2010 collection.

Whilst the necklines of this collection were high, the tailoring was masculine and clothes were worn with heavy workman’s boots, there was still an element of feminine sex appeal created by raising the hemlines and using sheer woollen fabrics.

Whilst the show comprised of mainly skirts, suits and skinny pants, there were also cheeky all-in-one playsuits and jumpsuits for when this serious modern woman is off duty.

By Tali Shine

The consistency of the Marni look is one that is off-kilter, includes crazy prints in a kaleidoscope of muted bright colours which are juxtaposed with beiges. These prints provide the canvas for deconstructed designs and a look that is ‘nana chic’.

It is a look that keeps fashion editors and quirky fashionistas coming back for more of this ‘wearable art’ to add to their collection, season after season.

For Autumn/Winter 2010, there are plenty of these quirky prints in colours of muted mint, aqua and beige. They make up dresses with matching bags, jackets and pantsuits. The pantsuits themselves had further quirky touches, such as wide arms and cropped legs.

Whilst designer Consuelo Castiglioni paired heavy ribbed knee-high socks with dresses and trousers, there were still looks that were more classic. Printed t-shirts with sequin detailing would look cute with jeans or plain trousers.

The dusky pink draped dress, with black side panels in the shape of tears, had a romantic vintage feel and could be worn day or night.

By Tali Shine

The second day at Milan Fashion Week was as sexy, bronzed and fresh, revealing as we could have hoped for from a country where men really do appreciate the way women dress…

We discovered a little black and red magic at Dsquared2, where there was a distinct 80s vibe.

Boots were thigh high, gloves were long and made from latex. And models appeared from cages amidst smoke and fog revealing black and red creations.

Dresses were unashamedly provocative and embellished with showgirl worthy feathers.

The fur jacket and micro mini latex hot pants may even have our hot pant poster girl Kylie Minogue spinning around.

By Tali Shine

There was plenty of vintage romance at Alberta Ferretti, the collection had a distinct 20s flapper theme with fanciful beading, fringing, divided panels and plenty of movement.

Although the colour palette was muted with ivory, dusky satins, taupes and sparkling soft hues, there was power and texture in the romance created by using chunkier chain-mail beading, fur stoles and patterned ankle boots in colours that perfectly matching each design.

The Alberta Ferretti women is romantic yet realistic, whimsical and captivating, yet serious and knows how to work the demure but sexy look to perfection. We were already imagining Sarah Murdoch working the beaded neckline satin numbers before Alberta made her appearance.

By Tali Shine

First it happened in the pages of glossy magazine and now it is happening on the catwalks; ‘curvy’ women are officially ‘in’ and Prada reinforced the current trend with clothes that celebrated feminine curves.

Prah-de-daa: Bows, frills and clichés @ Prada
Ra-ra black and white lace frills on dresses, clinched waists, voluptuous 50s style dresses and coats with underwire pleats to frame the chest created a look that was va va voom.

It was pure ‘Mad Men on Viagra’ with demure cocktail dresses, capri pants and twinsets combined with PVC pencil skirts, shiny belts that matched the handbags swinging from models’ arms, finished off with knee-high cheerleader socks, bee-hived hair and cats eye glasses.
We joined the Jet Set next at the new hotel Maison Moschino where champagne flowed, Pixie Lott belted out tunes and, with a great sense of humour, models appeared taking on the personas and wardrobes of the characters we can expect to see around the hotel.

There was the saucy French maid in her designer dusting get-up; there was the rock chic with her studded jacket; a movie star in a pink satin dress with oversized romantic rosette covering her entire chest and fur stole draped around her shoulder; cool kids in Khaki pants, and the jet setter dragging her small luggage.

With a great sense of ironic and expensive humour, there was even a ‘Kelly girl’, whose head wear was a very expensive Kelly bag. Chic but not cheap. Perhaps Hermes will repay the compliment by using Moschino bags as footwear for their show…?

By Tali Shine

Balance at Bottega Veneta… Gone are the days when this house was known purely for their uber expensive handbags, Bottega Veneta is now firmly on the fashion map with their clothes as sought after as their accessories.

Fall 2010 for this fashion house provided a constant juxtaposition of power and movement, masculinity and femininity, sombre tones and vibrant colours.

Double breasted leather pant suits were followed by draped and pleated tulle dresses. Structured tops with defined shoulders led to free-flowing fluid skirts. Inky blues, charcoal, chocolate and moss coloured designs were soon followed by outfits with shimmering metallic flecks and designs in vibrant reds and pinks.

Military Max at Max Mara
In these uncertain political times, we never know when a war may break out and that perhaps was the point Max Mara was trying to get across by utilising a strong military theme for their fall 2010 collection.

Military coats were tailored, structured and powerful. In monochromatic combinations as well as navy, khaki, grey and beige, the fabrics were luxurious camel hair and cashmere as well as velvet and cord, complete with stand up collars, gold buttons suited to blistering cold Russian and Easter European winters.

There was still a sense of romance in the masculine Marine style coats. Feminine form was alluded to by belting and cinching these jackets in at the waist and then combining them with softer knee-length skirts.

The lines of the collection were elegant and long with wide-leg trousers being tucked in to knee-high boots, lean skirts that still allowed movement and serious gold lame cocktail and floor length dresses.

The wife shakes things up at Giorgio Armani
Armani is synonymous with elegance and the type of clothing that a serious gentleman’s wife attends her serious gala dinners and charity meetings in. She leaves the more flashy and interesting labels for his mistress to flit about in.

When this collection began with luxurious cashmere lining on velvet jackets, grey and ivory fur coats, brooch like buttons, fluid A-line skirts and classic sophisticated dresses, we knew just where we were and just who would be wearing these clothes.

But then the collection shifted. Perhaps the lady is sick of her husband’s antics and ready to shake things up a little. The colour palette moved from neutrals and insipid grays to acidic bright orange and red. Classic dresses became eccentric with asymmetrical hems and futuristic collars. Jackets were no longer symmetrical and orange tops were even combined with neon orange fur pom pom wraps.

We can’t wait to see what how the mistress changes her wardrobe in reaction.

Midnight Cowgirl at Moschino
A little shaken and stirred, it was time for the rodeo at Moschino, where tight bustiers, ruffled floor length skirts and leather gloves were combined with mysterious dark sunglasses and black cowboy hats.

Chunky gold earrings were all the rage and worn with everything from cheeky skirt suits to leopard printed shifts that were worn on top of turtlenecks, orange blazers that were combined with fuchsia corsets and gold sequined dresses.

Pair the combinations down, grab your pony and giddy up.

Glamour at Gucci
If we found anything but slick lines and glamour at Gucci, it would be a strange day. It was a relief then to see some of classic Gucci trademarks like peek-a-boo slits in tops, low slung trousers, sleek clean lines and clothes that were tailored but not too structured.

Coats were well crafted and appeared in icy whites, grays, black and brown coloured luxurious suede, leather and fur. Cocktail dresses were attention grabbing and embellished with sequins, cut away lace and ostrich feathers. There were even trousers covered in these feathers.

Replacing the usual printed fabrics though were colour matched shoes, tights and dresses and interestingly for Gucci matching shoes and handbags creating a more conservative feel.

More sexy than psychedelic at Pucci
Armani may be getting a little racy, but Pucci seems to be going in the other direction. Gone from sexy St Tropez to grown-up Hollywood, the new Pucci look is more suited to the red carpet and its stars like Kate Hudson and Heidi Klum who have been favouring the label of late, than it is to young deck candy or grand dame Ivana Trump.

Rather than swirling candy prints, dresses were decorated in shimmering sequins and beads in block colours of gold, nude or black.

Don’t get us wrong, the look is still pure sex appeal with long sleeved micro mini dresses, cut away necklines and the use of crocodile jackets and ostrich feather pants. Even the 70s feel look of flared trousers and blazers seemed sexy with the draped Pucci scarves wrapped around the nape of the neck.

The collection did have some designs in typical Pucci print, but even these were more conservative purple swirling patterns, creating dresses that looked as though they are more suited to rocking the Kasbah in Marrakech than they are to dancing poolside at Byblos.

(Image at the top shows Fendi)

Whilst the fashion world was a flutter that its high priestess Anna Wintour had cut her Milanese trip short, we secretly loved the fuss it was causing.

Mayor Moratti even came out to say “No-one, not even if she is called Anna Wintour can allow themselves to make or unmake our fashion collection”.

Guess what, whatever the mayor or anyone else said, as designers scrambled to change their slots the message was loud and clear, she can and has...

A leopard doesn't change its spots @ Just Cavalli
We expected a tight, bright, short start to the day and one covered in animal prints at Just Cavalli, and that is exactly what we got.

With a look that only be described as wild rocker lady, there were zebra, python and croc printed skirts, bags, gloves, scarves that were layered, textured, fringed and worn with calf high boots. In fact, fringing playfully appeared everywhere, from biker gloves to hems of gowns, to jackets bags and even completely covering mini skirts.

Turtlenecks and tailored leather jackets and skirts gave a more structured and, dare we say, conservative feel that was punked up with multiple chunky silver zippers and sequin animal print designs.

Drapped and floaty evening gowns in pastels were show stoppingly red carpet fabulous, just make sure you get a spray tan first.

Leopard prints came in the form of kilts (the Scottish theme was catching on all the way to Italy with army green and leather mini kilted options for the more classic rocker chic), brocaded leggings, which added texture (again the other option was multi-coloured hose that led down to multi strapped sandals in acid brights) and sweet and sassy baby doll dresses.

Whilst there was an attempt to create a grunge rocker look, with paired down plaid shirts and jingling chunky gold necklaces complete with metal and skull charms, the body skimming cuts, chiffon shirts and fur caplets and neckties added the exact amount of glamour that keeps leggy, bronzed Italian bellas coming back for more Cavalli season after season.

Whilst we are considering the leather micro-mini kilts, and wondering if we have the Elisabetta Canalis-esque tan necessary to carry them off, we are coveting the Aviator jackets and are wondering if it is excessive to order both a Burberry and Just Cavalli shearling-lined number? Time to sign up for those flying lessons...

Fur as Fabric @ Fendi
Whilst we might have questioned just how PC it is to use exotic furs, the fact that pretty much every designer we have seen across the globe this season has done so, means that we may just need to go naked if we don't want to wear it.

Avoiding potential 'red paint' throwers, we stepped into Fendi where the brand's heritage of classic furs was revisited. Alligator and Mink were combined to create uber luxurious, uber expensive coats, leather jackets were glammed up with Mink trimmings and collars and we were introduced to a skin called breitschwanz.

In an Autumnal colour palette of yellow, browns, greys and 'strange blues' came swinging 50s style circle skirts, narrow pants, coats and range of skirts with no particular uniform hem length. As Karl Lagerfeld deemed no length to be 'now', he hedged his bets with short, long and even mid calf length offerings.

SPRING/SUMMER COVERAGE: By Tali Shine

No, the correct answer is not a newspaper, it is rather the colour palette used at the Dolce & Gabbana for the Spring 2010 show; where a selection of tailored, solidly coloured black, white and shimmering red clothes came down the runway in a dramatic fashion, with the occasional floral print (staying true to the colour theme) thrown in for good and fun measure.

This collection was part Madonna; with sculptured bustiers revealing cone shaped bras, and detailed underwear worn as outerwear. It was part French maid; with delicate black and white lace micro mini ra-ra skirts and cheeky bloomers on display. And it was also part South American with the use of bold red, from the fabrics to the red lips of the models.

Blazers with defined shoulders and collars as well as corset tops remained true to the signature form-fitting shape of Dolce & Gabbana, but rather than the structured and fitting knee-length pencil skirts that we have come to expect from this fashion house, the hemlines were raised even higher to reveal plenty of leg as the bubble-shaped micro minis playfully bounced down the runway and helped models to 'get into the groove'.

SPRING/SUMMER COVERAGE: By Tali Shine

Nearly a decade ago, an iconic photo shoot of Cindy Crawford surrounded by Bedouin tribes in the desert appeared in Vanity Fair. It captured our imagination and inspired us to dream of trips to the Middle East and stock up on khaki shirts, cargo pants, beige shorts and simple white singlet tops. We never forgot those images, and it seems like MaxMara didn't either, with their Spring 2010 collection taking on a distinctly desert theme.

This desert theme involves military enhanced tailoring, like applets on shirts and trench coats over shorts, as well as the use of colours that reflect the desert and its sunset; think burnt orange skirts, beige, sand and khaki trousers, crisp white dresses and dusty trenches.

The use of fluid fabrics, like matte silk charmeuse, created a laid back feel, with shirts opened low, pleated trousers skimming the floor, satin full length trench coats flowing effortlessly in the breeze and double breasted dresses chicly draped across the body.

Whether or not you are going into battle or breezing through life, you are sure to look effortlessly chic in either the city or the desert with this collection.

By Tali Shine

Romance was in the air at Fendi, where Karl Lagerfeld sent soft, feminine and delicate layered creations down the runway in nude and champagne coloured chiffon and lace.

There was an element of girly innocence with night gown styled long jackets, fragile lace dresses and shirts on display, yet all were combined and balanced with an element of womanly sex kitten knowingness, as models teetered down the runway in towering 'sweet dominatrix' platforms, laced and strapped to their ankles and blouses that billowed to reveal flesh and delicate peek-a-boo bras.

Draped skirts, jackets and dresses in nudes, muted pastels and crisp white created a feeling of luxury. The use of tulle, lace, pleats and clever draping further enhanced this feel.

The Fendi woman of Spring 2010 may flash her lingerie and invite the imagination, but she holds her cards close to her chest and knows better than to completely expose herself.

By Tali Shine

For day four of Milan fashion week, we took a break from the eighties and the overt sex appeal that has been taking centre stage and got something very different. Think granny chic, or rather sexy librarian.

The day began at Marni where designer Consuelo Castiglioni gave us what she does best; a mixed up, yet deliberately left of field and well thought out collection.

There were the signature bold statement necklaces made of both crystal and wood, as well as paper mache earrings that looked as though they are either uber expensive collectables, or wearable art work that your young child has brought home from school.

Textured fabrics of cotton, linen and silk organza were mixed with unusual colour combinations like coral and acid green, subdued brown with black and white and brighter purple and yellow. Prints, such as stripes, checks and tartans, were all placed together.

Even the evening collection took the same mixed feel and loose fitting shape as the daywear, with the use of embellishments such as crystals used to differentiate the look.

Are we daring enough to wear the collection in the way it came down the runway? Probably not. But taken as individual pieces and mixed with more classic items in your wardrobe, the Marni collection is timeless and investment worthy.
